Know How Transfer Prototyping
Maker's Factory Workshops

In our introductory program, we want to give you a solid grounding in the many possibilities within the Maker’s Factory. We want to work together in a hands-on format in four learning areas on the knowledge you need to realise your own project on this site.

3D data generation
3D printing
CNC milling
2D cutting and engraving

If you have never had any experience in these areas, this is the right course for you – but there will be eye-opening content for more experienced users as well. After completing the course, you will be able to operate the equipment you need independently – but don’t worry, we will still be here to answer any questions!

Note: The courses are not a prerequisite for working on your own. If you’re familiar with the kind of equipment you need to use just let us know, and you can get started after a brief introduction to the machine in question.

Learning field 4: Cutting & engraving

From data generation in the vector graphics program, to the cutting plotter, to the laser cutter. In this learning field we focus on the 2D area. We deal with cutting, marking and engraving a wide range of materials.

modul a: 2d-vector graphic with inkscape

Create designs, vectorise and export drawings.

In this beginner’s course you will learn how to use the Inkscape graphics programme and create vector drawings suitable for production on vinyl and laser cutters.

Workshop duration: 2 hours
Minimum age: 18 years
Language: course languages are German or English (depending on demand)
Cost: included in membership or day ticket

Detailed info about this course you can find here.

modul b: plotting on vinyl cutter

Cutting motifs for labelling or T-shirt printing

The vinyl cutter reliably tool for cutting foils and flat materials. One experimental application is the use of conductive ink to draw circuits. With the Graphtec Pro software you will prepare your file for plotting and feed it into the machine to create your design on the foil of your choice.

Workshop duration: 2 hours
Minimum age: 18 years
Language: course languages are German or English (depending on demand)
Cost: included in membership or day ticket
Machines: Graphtec CE7000

modul c: laser cutting

Cut, mark or engrave diverse materials

With the Laser Cutter you can achieve fast and precise results in cutting flat materials such as wood, plastic or textiles. In this course you will learn about the data you need to create and the settings you should use, and you will cut your first parts with the Epilog Laser Cutter.

Workshop duration: 2 hours
