In our introductory program, we want to give you a solid grounding in the many possibilities within the Maker’s Factory. We want to work together in a hands-on format in four learning areas on the knowledge you need to realise your own project on this site.
3D data generation
3D printing
CNC milling
2D cutting and engraving
If you have never had any experience in these areas, this is the right course for you – but there will be eye-opening content for more experienced users as well. After completing the course, you will be able to operate the equipment you need independently – but don’t worry, we will still be here to answer any questions!
Note: The courses are not a prerequisite for working on your own. If you’re familiar with the kind of equipment you need to use just let us know, and you can get started after a brief introduction to the machine in question.
From wood to aluminum to plastic materials; from semi-CNC entry on the shaper to CNC milling on the portal milling machine, we want to introduce you step by step to this widely used manufacturing technology. In addition to 3D printing, we offer you the possibility to realise your idea from materials other than thermoplastics.
With the Shaper you can start milling with relatively little preparation. CNC precision included.
In this course, you will learn how the shaper works and carry out precise CNC milling yourself.
Workshop duration: 2 hours
Minimum age: 18 years
Language: course languages are German or English (depending on demand)
Cost: included in membership or day ticket
Machines: Shaper Origin
Detailed info about this course you can find here.
Using Fusion 360’s CAM module, you’ll learn how to program simple milling operations. You will create the basics for contour, pocket and drill toolpaths in this course and develop an understanding of underlying 2D vector data.
Workshop duration: 2 hours
Minimum age: 18 years
Language: course languages are German or English (depending on demand)
Cost: included in membership or day ticket
This course is a prerequisite for participation in module B.2.
In this course you will learn the basics of CNC milling and how to handle and operate the machine safely. You will learn how to load the machine paths previously created in module B.1, position the workpiece in the machining area, and start the milling process. After the course, you can take the result home with you.
Workshop duration: 6 hours
Minimum age: 18 years
Language: course languages are German or English (depending on demand)
Cost: included in membership or day ticket
Machines: BZT PFE1000
With the CAM module of the Fusion360 software you will learn how to program complex milling processes with 3 axes. As an example, we will mill a 3D object made of wood as a reversible part and create a smooth surface by roughing and finishing.
Workshop duration: 4 hours
Minimum age: 18 years
Language: course languages are German or English (depending on demand)
Cost: included in membership or day ticket
